The Problem: Nearly 43% of Grade 5 students in rural Maharashtra lack basic Grade 2 arithmetic skills. Teachers, already overburdened with administrative duties, have little time for personalized support. Consequently, early learning gaps in mathematics remain unaddressed and persist through later grades.
Our Solution: To address these learning gaps, we introduce Math Moms—a tech-enabled model that identifies motivated women within villages, trains and certifies them as math tutors, and connects them with children struggling in mathematics. The model strengthens foundational learning while creating a reliable source of income for women within their own communities.
By training village mothers and equipping them with curated teaching resources, we bridge the gap between classroom instruction and home support, converting local spaces into thriving math learning hubs.
Empowering local women, bridging numeracy gaps, and building community-led classrooms.
Establishing safe, independent learning spaces directly within village neighborhoods where kids receive math support after school hours.
Focusing on basic arithmetic, number operations, and interactive logic puzzles designed specifically for Grades 1 to 4.
An intensive 6-month training program preparing local women with essential mathematics pedagogy and classroom management skills.
Providing women with micro-business skills to independently run their village centers, securing a self-sustainable source of local income.
Fostering active dialogue and collaboration with parents by sharing simplified, easy-to-understand updates on children's math progress.
A set of structured learning resources, guides, and worksheets designed for student assessment, remedial instruction, and review.
